Berkshire Junior Chess
Maidenhead Junior Chess Club
Maidenhead Junior Chess Club meets on Saturday mornings during school term at: -

Ridgeway School
Cannon Lane
Maidenhead Thicket
Berkshire SL6 3QE

From 9.30 a.m. to 11.15 a.m.

A club program is available (see below). Some Saturday mornings are allocated for tournaments or training. Others are described in the program as “Normal Club Meetings”, when children play games with elementary instruction available. Normal Club Meetings are suitable for beginners who need basic instruction, such as how the pieces move and how to checkmate. After a few weeks children can progress to playing in the club tournaments, and the Berkshire Junior Chess Saturday Afternoon Tournaments. Later children can progress to playing in the Berkshire Junior Chess teams, and for an adult chess club, such as Maidenhead Chess Club.

Costs are £3.00 for each Saturday morning, £5.00 for two members of one family, and £7 for three members of one family.

A parent of a new member should complete the Club Member Registration Form, and, for younger members, stay for the first two weeks that the new member attends. It would be helpful if a parent could stay each week, and all parents may stay if they wish. The school site is a non-smoking area.

Directions: - At the Maidenhead Thicket junction, where the A404(M) goes under the A4, turn towards Maidenhead along the A4 Bath Road, then right at the next roundabout into Cannon Lane. Go under the bridge, and then immediately right at the mini roundabout, signposted “Ridgeway School”, into the private road to the school. Park in the parking area at the front of the building normally reserved for school staff, rather than in the parents’ car park close to the sports hall. For Sat-Nav directions, use the postcode SL6 4QQ, as otherwise you may get taken to a closed gate, from where it will be difficult to find the correct entrance.
