The Radstock School SAE had a large turnout of 36 children from various schools throughout Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Charlie Bucknell was the favourite to win, being the only player with a grade over 1000. However, Charlie lost to Giles Hutch in the second round so that the tournament ended with a 4-way tie for first place between Charlie Bucknell, Jonathan Smith, Ben Smith and Sebastian Blackwell, all on 5 points.
In the semi-final playoffs, Jonathan swindled Ben and Charlie won over Seb with seconds to spare. In the exciting final game, watched by a hushed crowd, Charlie showed his mastery of the famous Fried Liver to gain an early advantage, and then push quickly on for his first Saturday afternoon event trophy.
There was also a tie for the Under 500 grade minor trophy with no fewer than 8 players tied on 3 points. After looking at the average opponent scores to reduce the number of tied players, there was a play-off between Callum Peart and Gregor Hosie, both from Radstock School. Callum Peart narrowly beat Gregor on time to win the trophy.
