A full-strength Berkshire team arrived in High Wycombe for the last and most challenging event in our calendar - the EPSCA U11 Final. As predicted, with the top 16 counties in the country competing this was a much tougher experience than the U11 Zonal where we had finished second. As well as a full squad of 24, we had an additional two "travelling reserves" who were loaned out to another county's reserve team to help gain experience for future years.
Round 1 showed the strength in depth of the competition, as we scored 9½ out of 20 to go into 11th place. We showed our consistency in Round 2, again scoring 9½ points to edge up to 9th place. At that stage, any finishing position between 6th and 13th looked a possibility!
After the team photo we headed back to the hall for the final round, where we scored 11 points, which moved us up one place to finish 8th=, a position we have only bettered once over the last 5 years.
The Reserves also played some good matches, eventually finishing 4th= with 7½ points from a possible 12.
Thanks to all the players for their excellent results, and also a big thank you to the parents for giving up your time on the day.
