First Grand Prix event Saturday, January 16
Paul Harris writes:

The new Grand Prix competition kicked off at St. Nicholas, Hurst at the first SAE of 2016. It was well-attended with lots of good chess on display. Only a quick play-off was able to separate Ali Batley and Mia Harris for the silverware, both of whom were unbeaten, winning 4 of their 5 games and splitting the honours when they met in the 4th round. Marcus Palmer played well above his grade with a deserved 3.5 points from 5 taking home the Minor Trophy.

So, the Grand Prix is under way, and the leaders have set the pace for points in the overall standings. Check out the Grand Prix page for details. The next event is this Saturday at Downsway Primary School, so get your chess hats on and come on down.
