This is the first time in recent years that the Berkshire under 9 team has secured 4th overall out of 15 teams in an EPSCA final championship jamboree style tournament. On a cold and windy day most of the players set off in a coach to Solihull with lot of excitement. In the first round of the tournament we scored 6½ points and were placed in the middle of the table and the players were a bit disappointed. Our players fought back hard in the next round and scored 9½ points and all the players were very happy that the team is back in the competition!! In the third round with great hopes of podium finish our team tried their best, but managed to score 8½ points only. Anyway overall players scored 24½ points with 23 wins and 3 draws.
Again this is just the beginning, I hope our players can produce much better results in the future. Also all the very best to the players for the forthcoming chess events.
A special mention about the players who managed to score 3/3 points in the tournament.
