SAE - Trinity, Newbury
Saturday, October 08
Another new venue for a Saturday afternoon event and a good early season turnout of 22 eager chess players. Having dropped only half a point at the first two SAEs of the year, Adrian Archer-Lock made it three tournaments in a row with a perfect 6 ⁄ 6. Philip Archer-Lock lost only to his older brother to claim 2nd place outright. Keeping up the family theme, brother and sister Sam Goodwin and Zoe Goodwin came 3rd and 4th= respectively.
There were only 3 under 9s who had entered on the day (of which the best performance came from 7 year old Louise Head with 2½ points), so the "minor" trophy was awarded jointly to the best newcomers who both scored 3½: Drew Wilson and Jonathan Berry.
