Under 11 team match v. Buckinghamshire
Sunday, March 04

The Berkshire Under 11 team put in a very convincing performance in the final friendly of the season, winning 46-17 against hosts Buckinghamshire in High Wycombe, where we return for the Zone competition on 17th March. The result was achieved without our expected top boards for the Zone, and the team responded well to having many players play on a higher board than they are used to, including as a result of the rotated pairings.
The round by round scored were 15, 17½ and 13½ out of 21, and nine Berkshire players scored 3/3, including Kazuki Yokota who achieved the longest overall time at the board in recording three patient wins. In each round there were good long games, and it will be important to keep this up when the time limit increases to 50 minutes for the Zone.
Well played to the team, and it was good to get together for this match at this stage in the season. We look forward to the challenge of the expanded South West Zone.
